Baldwinsville On Nov. 7, the Baldwinsville Central School District held its Oral Spelling Bee Championship to determine 14 finalists for the Post Standard/WCNY Spelling Bee written test, which will be held on Jan. 19, 2013.
Aaron DuBois, an eighth-grader at Durgee Junior High School, was crowned the district spelling champ. Nicholas Klipp, also an eighth-grader, placed second, and sixth-grader Abigail Scherfling placed third in the competition.
Besides the top three finalists, the other Baldwinsville students who have qualified for the Post Standard/WCNY Spelling Bee are: Rose Mercer, Elden Elementary School; Bianca Gascon, Summer McClintic and Aidan Micho, McNamara Elementary School; Noah Gillette and Jacob Holbrook, Reynolds Elementary School; Thomas Grindle, Sean Micho and Olivia Richards, Ray Middle School; and Madeline Saarie and Lily Sochan-Rosen, Durgee Junior High School.
