— Five Ray Middle School students have advanced to the state level of the 2012-13 National PTA Reflections program, which highlights the importance of arts in education.

Baldwinsville’s winners are Adriana Straughter, dance choreography; Abigail Scherfling, visual arts; Kaitlyn Devine, literature; Kellen Albrecht, film; and Hannah Pinard, photography. These students each earned first place in their categories at the middle school level of the regional competition, which includes school districts in the counties of Cayuga, Jefferson, Madison, Onondaga and Oswego.

This year students created works in literature, dance choreography, musical composition, photography, visual arts and film production, based on the theme, “The Magic of a Moment.”
