COLUMN: Library Focus - Tax season on the horizon

— The tax forms aren’t here yet, but the season will soon be underway. Start collecting your information for this year’s filing and preparing to make future filings easier by taking advantage of some of the library’s free hands-on courses both in person and online.

Learn something new

Learn how to make the most of technology with the help of our hands-on courses. Held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, class seating is limited to 10 and registration is required (sign up online, bville.lib.ny.us or call 635-5631 to register). This month’s classes are as follows: email Basics Jan. 23; and Finding Answers on the Web Jan. 30.

Clean out your projects

Clean out your old projects in congenial company. We have morning and evening options for all you guilty procrastinators. In Stitches convenes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23.

Living with Alzheimer’s for Caregivers

Struggling with providing care to a loved one with Alzheimers or other dementias? Join us for this three-part series and hear caregivers and professionals discuss helpful strategies to provide safe, effective and comfortable care at this three-part workshop presented from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan.23 and 30, by the Alzheimer's Association, CNY Chapter.

Beaver Lake Nature Center

All of the beauty with none of the snow! Get a great introduction to one of Onondaga County’s local treasures as John Cecil, retired geology professor, takes us down the four trails at Beaver Lake as each season passes at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17. There is a suggested $1 donation for the program accepted at the door. All are welcome.

Get ready for an animated season at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17. Anime and ramen for hungry teens.

Master your machines

Drop in to the computer lab from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays and librarians will help you with your laptop, mobile device, ereaders or tablet computer. No registration necessary.
